North Hempstead Honors New Hyde Park Little League for District Championship

New Hyde Park first 10U team to being home District 29 title.

The Town of North Hempstead recognized the 10U New Hyde Park Little League Team for being the first 10U team in the Little League’s 50 year history to bring home the District 29 crown in the Williamsport Tournament.

The team swept through the District 29 tournament, going undefeated, and winning the District Championship on July 5.

Coach and New Hyde Park Little League Co-President Nancy Gregory cited the team’s strong “character” and “comeback ability” in powering their drive to a championship.

The members of the team and officials present were coach Ron Gittelman, Town Deputy Supervisor Chris Senior, Councilwoman Anna Kaplan, Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio, Councilman Angelo Ferrara, Councilwoman Lee Seeman, Town Clerk Leslie Gross, Team Manager Dan Libonati, and Coach/Co-President of New Hyde Park Little League, Nancy Gregory; players Emmanuel Alewole, Steven Brendel, Mathew Cipolla, Michael Dominguez, Ethan Libonati; Justin Obidienzo, Joseph Pomara, Aaron Gittelman, Julian Belardo Gregory and Nick O'Shea.

The Town presented the team and coaches with certificates of recognition prior to the October 1 town board meeting.
