Only in America!

An 18-year old is running for Police Commissioner in Port Washington...Hooray for his willingness to run for public office. Reminds me of another young man in 1972 who did something similar.

I love my country. Veterans Day recognizes all veterans of all wars we fought in. My husband and brother-in-law are both proud veterans of the Vietnam War era and my son is now an active member of the US Navy serving his country in the Middle East. Gob Bless all our veterans.

I read this morning that an 18-year young man has stepped up and decided to run for Police Commissioner in Port Washington. It reminds me of another 18-year-old who ran and won a position as a representative to the Mineola School Board of Education. At the age of 18 in 1972, Tom DiNapoli was the youngest person in New York State history to hold public office. He served on the school board for 10 years and has gone on to become Comptroller of the State of New York.

Although I am a resident of New Hyde Park and have no particular interest in this election, nor do I know him, I am encouraged by the willingness, for whatever his reason, of Paul Nickolaus Faulk to step up and try to make what he perceives a difference. Whatever the outcome, this young man should be admired for being willing to try.
