Come to the meetings....

First of all I would like to sincerely thank those of you who came out to vote for Fire Commissioner last night.  I realize the weather was not with us and it took a special effort to be there.  I ran mainly to express our concern over how taxpayer dollars are being spent and to try to make a difference in that regard.  Most of the fire department members and their families came out to vote out and I feel sad that more concerned residents did not make the effort, yet continue to complain.  Change cannot be forthcoming unless we ALL get involved.  The election is over, however, you can still make a difference.  I request that you mark your calendars for the first and third Tuesday of each month.  What is this?  These are the days the Board of Commissioners have their public meetings.  I feel we all should be better informed and more pro-active within our town.  You do not have to come to each and every meeting – just come when you can – “the more the merrier”, as they say.  You have a DVR I am sure, so you don't even have to miss your favorite TV show.  Become a voice in the community in which you live -- join us at the New Hyde Park firehouse located at 1555 Jericho Turnpike (across from Taco Bell).  I’ll be there waiting to shake your hand once again.
