Ann M. McGuinness, Longtime New Hyde Park Resident, 73

Former secretary and long-time resident of New Hyde Park passed away on August 16.

Former New Hyde Park resident Ann M. McGuinness passed away on August 16 in McCauley Hall Nursing Home in Watchung at the age of 73.

Born in Pottsville, PA. to the late Edward and Anna Fitzpatrick, McGuinness, “Fitzie” lived in New Hyde Park until moving to New Providence in 1984. She was employed as a secretary for Borden Co. in New York City, retiring to raise her family. Later she also worked as a cashier at Mirrer Pharmacy and CVS Pharmacy in New Providence.

McGuneess was a member of the Rosary Society, Cornerstone Retreat and Discipleships in Mission.

Her husband Patrick predeceased her. She is survived by her children Patrick, Jr., Michael (Robyn), Anne-Marie (Chan Mahadeo), Eileen, Thomas (Jeanne), and Joseph (Shelly) McGuinness and Maureen (Karl) Dorwart, brother Edward (Lucille) Fitzpatrick, 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South St., New Providence on Tuesday, August 21, at 10 a.m. followed by the burial in  Chatham.
