Joseph Boylan, 95, New Hyde Park Firefighter

Former New Hyde Park resident passed away on Dec. 6, 2012.

Joseph Boylan, 95, passed away after a brief illness on Dec. 6, 2012 in Paradise, CA.

He was born in New York City on Aug. 2, 1917 to Theresa and Daniel Boylan. In 1954, he moved to New Hyde Park, Long Island with his family and was an active member of the New Hyde Park Fire Dept., VFW, and Elks Lodge for over 20 years.

He was a boiler maker for 40 years, serving in the US Army in Italy and North Africa during WWII where he earned his purple heart.

Upon his retirement, Boylan and his wife Joyce moved to Oak Run, Ocala, FL where they enjoyed many happy years. In 2011, they moved to Paradise, CA where they both enjoyed the last year of their lives.

Boylan is preceded in death by his wife Joyce and sons Wayne and Douglas. He is survived by his loving daughter Joanna Boylan, grandchildren Joe, Laura, and Beth Azavedo, and great-granddaughter Nicole Cook.

Arrangements were made by Chapel of the Pines in Paradise, CA. He will be interred in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River, MI.
