Joseph T. Attanasio of Garden City Park, NY, passed away on Jan. 15, 2013.
Born on Jan. 18, 1924, Attanasio was a retired Lieutenant from the FDNY, a WWII Marine Veteran and a survivor of the battle of Iwo Jima. He also was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2852 in New Hyde Park, NY and a devoted parishoner of Holy Spirit R.C. Church in New Hyde Park.
He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine, father of Thomas (Susan), Joseph, Richard, & the late Robert (Janet), grandfather of Robert, Marijo, Jason, Marybeth, Jillian, & Matthew, great-grandfather of Andrew & Alex.
A wake was held on January 17-18 at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on January 19 at Holy Spirit R.C. Church in New Hyde Park, NY with interment to follow at Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery in Flushing, NY.
