Marion M. Wesoly, 78, Sewanhaka Secretary

New Hyde Park resident passed away on Jan. 3, 2013.

Marion M. Wesoly, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the age of 78.

She was born to the late Stanley and Julia Schultz on Jan. 21, 1934, in New Hyde Park, graduating from Sewanhaka High School in 1951. She married Paul J. Wesoly in 1953 and they lived together in their primary residence in New Hyde Park and spent their summers in their vacation home in Noyack, NY.

She was a secretary to the principal at Sewanhaka High School and later became partner and owner of Rayo Oil Company in New Hyde Park. A passionate antique and doll collector, Wesoly specifically collected  Madame Alexander dolls and was a member of the Madame Alexander Doll Club. She was also an active member of St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society.

She loved to crochet, dance the Polka, entertain; especially around Christmas time and spend time with her family and friends at her beach house. She made what many people thought to be the best clam chowder, with fresh caught clams out of Noyack Bay by her husband.

She is survived by her beloved husband Paul J. Wesoly, five children: Lorrie Wesoly (Lisa Landone) of Trumbull, CT., Julie Russell (George) of New Canaan, CT., Paul S. Wesoly (Susan) of New Hyde Park, NY., Barry J. Wesoly (Maureen) of Summerfield, NC. and Melissa Wesoly of Long Beach, NY.

She also is survived by 13 grandchildren, Kaitlin, George G., David, and Emily Russell; Paul John, Craig, Taryn and Mariel Wesoly; Krysta, Erin, Grace, Heather and Barry James Wesoly, and by her two loving sisters, Carol Carey and Eleanor Bohm.

A wake was held on January 5 and 6 at New Hyde Park Funeral Home Mass on Monday, January 7, at St Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church in Floral Park and burial at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
