Richard (Dick) Alexander Stein Sr., 82, Korean Veteran

New Hyde Park resident passed away on Feb. 15, 2013.

Richard (Dick) Alexander Stein Sr. passed away on Feb. 15, 2013. He was born on Aug. 29, 1930 in Manhattan and raised in New Hyde Park.

Stein was married to Jane (nee Parrott) for 59 years. He was the father of Rick Stein Jr., Susan Stein, Michael (Maryann), the late James (Debbie), & Paul (Deidre); grandfather of Kristen Stein Goldberg (Andrew), Kelly Stein Russo (Nick), Kerianne Stein, Craig Posner (Michelle), Kimberly Stein, Mollie Stein, Natalie Stein, Douglas Posner, Sofia Stein, Montana Stein, Montgomery Stein; great-grandfather of Angelo James Russo.

He was also very active in many organizations; BPO Elks of New Hyde Park, New Hyde Park Lions Deputy District Governor & President with over 50 years of service, President of R&S and Son’s Inc. Electrical Contractor, Nassau Electric League where he was the President & Board of Directors, ran Christmas tree lot for Lions Club, delivered eyes for the Eye Bank of North Shore Medical Center, Chairman of the Examining Board of Electricians of the Town of North Hempstead, United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.

A wake was held on Feb. 17-18 at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home. An Elks service and firematic service was held on Feb. 17 at the funeral home with a private cremation.
