Stephen J. Nawrocki, a resident of Lake Park, Florida, formerly of New Hyde Park and Brooklyn, New York, passed away on Jan. 31, 2013 from pneumonia at the age of 87.
Nawrocki was a WWII US Army veteran, worked briefly with Lockheed and finished his career as a decorated Nassau County Homicide Detective. He loved to fish, golf, and was an avid Mets, Jets and Giants fan.
He was pre-deceased by wife Doris and two sons, Robert and Paul, and is survived by brother Edward his wife, Ann, son Raymond his wife Pat, daughter Marianne her husband Max, grandchildren Raymond, Lauren and Alexa, step-grandchildren Kaye, Neil, Adam and Gina, Chris and Loren, great-grandchildren Nolan, Danny and Maeve, step-great grandchildren Rachel, Chloe, CJ, Brooke, Austin, Miaya, Natasha and Jordy.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 9:30 a.m. with an internment at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
