Letter to the Editor: Thank You Brother Cutter

Resident Ed Powers submitted the following letter.

Last week the New Hyde Park community lost a dedicated public servant.

A retired N.Y.P.D. First Grade Detective and 43-year member of the  –  – was a true brother to all of us that were part of his vocation and avocation.

As President of Protection Engine “Hose” Company Number 2, he steered a steady course for a membership that at times is a kin to “herding cats.”

Once the fire department business of the day was done Billy tended to the enjoyment and reinforcement of our brotherhood.

We appreciated his reverence for the traditions and the duties of our volunteer fire service.

We always anticipated and appreciated a good natured laugh with him.  Brother Cutter – Billy – I salute you – we salute you.

God speed until we meet again.

Edward W. Powers

Billy is being waked Monday and Tuesday, March 26-27 at the ; Mass on Wednesday 9:30am at , entombment at Holy Rood.
