Saluting P.A.L. All-Stars

Assemblyman Ed Ra throws out first pitch at Franklin Square-Elmont P.A.L. All-Star Game.

I recently joined officers from the Nassau County Police Department for the 2012 Franklin Square-Elmont P.A.L. All-Star game, playing catcher during the special-needs game and before throwing out the first pitch in the game involving all-stars from the Franklin Square-Elmont league.

I would like to extend hearty congratulations to all the players on their terrific season. It was a great time watching the games and the home run derby. I was especially honored to be asked to participate in the special needs-game. They were a great group of young players and their hard work and determination is an inspiration to us all. I’d also like to thank Police Officer Gary Biggers, the Director of the Nassau County Police Activity League (P.A.L), and Vin Greco, President of the Franklin Square/Elmont P.A.L. Board, for including me in the day’s event.

During the all-star festivities, spectators were also treated to a live demonstration by members of the Nassau County Police Department K-9 Unit. As part of the display, officers discussed how the dogs train and the valuable services they provide the department.

Assemblyman Edward Ra is a member of the New York State Assembly representing the 21st District. Due to 2012 redistricting, the new 19th District will cover portions of New Hyde Park, Garden City Park and Mineola. He is a Republican from Franklin Square.
