The staff of the sends a large “Thank You” to all the members of the community who gave so generously of much-needed blood at the July 2 blood and food drive.
A total of 70 pints and 300 pounds of food were collected during the drive.
We thank Long Island Blood Services for providing the dedicated nurses who worked tirelessly to process the overflow crowd of 96 donors, ’s volunteers who staffed a desk and accepted donations, the volunteers from The Friends and Long Island Blood Services who manned the registration desk and oversaw the distribution of juice and cookies to the donors, the New York Mets organization for offering free tickets to donors and so many of our local merchants who allowed us to post signs all over New Hyde Park to publicize the event.
This was truly a fine example of the community working together for the benefit of all.
