Fires, Accidents Keep Firefighters on Their Toes
Manhasset-Lakeville Department responds to hundreds of calls.
There's still nearly a day remaining in the year, but the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department has already compiled an extensive record of calls for 2011.
Fire calls continue to dominate the department's demands but EMS runs are adding up. In October, Ambulance Unit Captain Lee Genser was honored with an EMS leadership award.
Throughout the year, the department's members turned out for car accidents, including vehicle fires and accident entrapments, storms and house fires. In September, members r shortly after power, knocked out by Hurricane Irene, was restored.

The department also dedicated a new ambulance and received two new automated external defibrillators.
