Ambulance and Car Collide in Garden City Park Sunday

Emergency crews extract both drivers after collision.

A Nassau County Ambulance collided with a car on Herricks Road, causing both vehicles to smash into a building near the intersection of Crystal Place early Sunday evening in Garden City Park.

According to one onlooker at the scene, the ambulance was northbound on Herricks Road headed to a call when it struck the sedan which was in the southbound lane at the intersection of Crystal Place at the Mineola-Garden City Park border at about 7:28 p.m. The ambulance then dragged the sedan into a building on the west side of Herricks Road where it came to a stop.

Emergency service personnel were called to the scene to help extract the two drivers using tools before taking them both to a nearby hospital. The southbound side of Herricks Road was shut down for at least 90 minutes while police removed the vehicles.
