Apartment Fire Claims Life of New Hyde Park Man

One dead and two others sent to area hospitals in fire Thursday.

A fire claimed the life of a New Hyde Park resident Thursday morning at an apartment at 1217 Jericho Turnpike.

The fire broke out in a residential apartment above a bar at 5:03 a.m. according to the Nassau County Police Department. There were a total of 6 occupants in the apartment at the time.

Two male residents, ages 47 and 58, as well as a 46-year old female resident were evacuated with the help of the New Hyde Park Fire Department and were uninjured.

One 51-year old male victim was transported to North Shore-LIJ Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 6:47 a.m.

A second male, 58, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

A 52-year old male resident was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined and has been deemed non-suspicious. And is being investigated.
