Augustine Carnevale easily defeated Jerome Galluscio for the position of Water/Fire Commissioner for the Water/Fire District.
Carnevale captured 265 votes to Galluscio’s 34.
Carnevale was elected commissioner in 2002 and has since addressed the issues of chlorination in the drinking water supply and with his staff formulated a plan to reduce chlorination of the water by adding calcium. As a result, the Garden City Park Water District won third place in a water quality contest making it the third best tasting water on Long Island in 2004.
Carnevale also tackled the issues of repairing the Garden City Park Fire Department Headquarters building, replaced firefighter gear and upgraded the Emergency Medical System.
