Cops: Ex-Contractor Stole Equipment from New Hyde Park Construction Site

Damion I. Brown allegedly stole $5,000 worth of materials from Lawrence Street home site.

A Bronx man was arrested Monday on charges relating to an Aug. 9 burglary in New Hyde Park.

According to detectives, the 42-year old male victim was informed by construction workers at his Lawrence Street home that materials and equipment valued at $5,000 dollars were missing from his home. The victim contacted Damion I. Brown, 35, the former contractor about the items. Brown admitted he had removed the property but refused to return it.

The victim made numerous attempts to convince Brown to return the property but was unsuccessful. He then reported the loss to police. Third Squad detectives located Brown at his residence on Monday, Oct. 14 at 10 p.m. and placed him under arrest without incident.

Brown is charged with second degree burglary and will be arraigned on Tuesday Oct. 15, 2013 at First District court in Hempstead.
