Cops: Man Seriously Injured After Hit-And-Run

A 62-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured after he was struck by a white Toyota Camry Monday night in a hit-and-run accident in New Hyde Park, authorities said.

Nassau detectives say they are investigating the accident, which occurred at 9:54 p.m.  They say the after the man exited a bus on Hillside Avenue east of Lakeville Road, he tried  to cross Hillside Avenue. He was struck by a vehicle that was traveling east on Hillside Avenue. The unknown driver of that vehicle then fled the scene.

The victim, who suffered multiple trauma injuries, was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

A subsequent investigation by detectives disclosed that the vehicle that fled the scene is a 1997-1999 white Toyota Camry.
