Crimes Nearby: Gas Station Bandit, Kidnapping and Robberies

The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

New Hyde Park

The NYPD is reporting the arrest of two men they say could be linked to a series of early-morning gas station robberies over the past eight days across Nassau County.

Mineola

An alleged kidnapper called his victim after her release from the Mineola Jiffy Lube on Friday afternoon according to Third Precinct officers.

Roslyn Heights

A Roslyn Heights man was arrested for attempted robbery which occurred on Thursday, April 4, at 9:55 a.m. According to detectives, Jessica Dieguez, 26, entered the East Hills Pharmacy located at 310 Roslyn Road produced a knife and passed a note demanding 120 Xanax pills from the pharmacist, who told the defendant to leave before calling police. Dieguez fled on foot northbound on Roslyn Road with no proceeds. Responding officers located her at the Roslyn Railroad Station in possession of the knife where she was placed under arrest without incident. There were three employees in the pharmacy at the time of the crime. No injuries were reported. Dieguez is charged with first degree robbery (attempt) and fourth degree possession of a dangerous weapon and was arraigned on April 5, at First District Court in Hempstead.

A car accident occurred on the Northern State Parkway between the Long Island Expressway and Willets Road on April 5 at 11:34 a.m. Police reported one vehicle with a small fire.

Bethpage

A Levittown man was arrested for a burglary that occurred on Thursday, April 4 at 8:08 a.m. in Bethpage. According to detectives, Albert C. Garfield, 47, drove to the Hahn Avenue residence of a male victim, 50 years of age, armed with a wooden table leg and crashed through a fence in the driveway. He proceeded to kick in the door of the home, entering and beat the victim with the table leg causing multiple contusions and abrasions resulting in the victim being hospitalized in an area hospital for treatment to his head injuries. The defendant fled the scene in an unknown direction prior to police arrival. At approximately 10 a.m. Garfield stole a 2007 Kia from Auto World located at 2520 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow from a female victim, 50 years of age, who was waiting to have her vehicle serviced. He fled eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike and was involved in an auto accident on Hicksville Road and the ramp for the Southern State Parkway in North Massapequa. When Officers arrived at the accident scene they determined Garfield had been driving under the influence of drugs. He was arrested and transported to Nassau University Medical Center. He was treated and released from the hospital. Garfield is charged with first degree burglary, second degree assault, third degree grand larceny, third degree criminal possession of a weapon and driving while ability impaired by drugs. He was arraigned on April 5 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Hicksville

A fully-involved car fire (a BMW) was reported at Duffy Avenue and Charlotte Avenue on April 3 at 11:54 a.m.

A two-car accident occurred at Bloomingdale Road and Michigan Drive on April 4 at 7:45 a.m. No pin was reported.

A car accident occurred at Newbridge Road and West John Street on April 5 at 9:17 a.m. Firefighters and Nassau County Police Ambulance personnel responded to the scene.

Franklin Square

A car overturned at 196 New Hyde Park Road on April 5 at 5:55 p.m. There was no pin reported.

Garden City

After stopping a vehicle for passing a red traffic light on Nassau Boulevard at Cambridge Avenue, on March 28, officers arrested the driver, a 25-year-old male from Franklin Square, for aggravated DWI (.18 percent blood alcohol content) and passing a red light.

Officers stopped a vehicle on Franklin Avenue and Eleventh Street on April 2 for improper tail lights and for an expired inspection sticker. The driver, a male 33-year-old from Floral Park, was placed under arrest and charged with four counts aggravated unlicensed operation due to three open license suspensions, a prior DWI suspension, driving without a court ordered interlock system and an administrative violation.

West Hempstead

A Baldwin man was arrested Friday morning in West Hempstead after an alleged robbery and assault near the new West130 apartment complex.
