New Hyde Park
A pedestrian was struck on New Hyde Park Road and the Northern State Parkway in a motor vehicle accident on October 6 at 6:21 p.m.
The northbound lanes of Bryant Avenue were closed at Witte Lane on October 7 at 2:58 p.m. due to an auto accident. The lanes were reopened at 4:14 p.m.
A traffic accident occurred at 5:41 p.m. on October 12 involving two cars at exit 37 on the Long Island Expressway causing damage in the left lane.
A Westbury man was arrested for public lewdness on October 10 at 11:55 a.m. in Hempstead. According to detectives, the 18 year old victim, who was standing outside the rear door of her S. Franklin Street apartment, observed a maroon Dodge pickup truck pull up next to her yard. Jeffrey Lichtenberger, 37, allegedly exited his vehicle, walked next to her yard and pulled his pants down exposing himself to her. After walking away, the victim turned back towards Lichtenberger who again pulled his pants down, exposing himself for a second time. After calling 911 from her cell phone, the defendant entered his truck and drove away. Later that day the victim positively identified Lichtenberger from a photo array and at 5 p.m., the defendant was located and placed into custody without incident. Lichtenberger is charged with Public Lewdness and was arraigned on October 11 in First District Court in Hempstead. Police are asking anyone who believes they may also have been victimized by Lichtenberger to contact Third Squad detectives at 516-573-6354.
A car overturned at 117 IU Willets Road on October 12 at 4:02 a.m. Nassau County Police were on scene and reported injuries and downed wires.
A pedestrian was struck on Northern Broadway and 16th Street on October 6 at 10:32 p.m. An ambulance was requested to the scene.
A transformer fire occurred at 4 Randor Court on October 10 at 9:06 a.m. resulting in power outages to the area. LIPA was notified to respond.
A car crashed into a Walgreens at 210 South Broadway on October 11 at 5:19 p.m. All people in the car were able to exit the vehicle.
An accident involving two cars occurred at South Broadway and East Barclay Street on October 12 at 7:40 a.m. A pin was reported.
Police activity related to the investigation of a vehicle registered in the Bronx was reported at a CVS at 399 Jerusalem Ave. on October 12 at 1:33 p.m.
An apparatus was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Broadway and Baldwin Place on October 10 at 3:13 p.m. There were no injuries reported.
Detectives are investigating unauthorized charges to a resident’s credit card at an establishment in New Hyde Park on October 3.
Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on Old Country Road in the vicinity of Herricks Road at 1:45 a.m. on October 6, where the vehicle stuck a utility pole. The driver, a female 52-year-old from East Rockaway, was not injured. She was placed under arrest for DWI (.17 percent blood alcohol content) after displaying numerous signs of intoxication.
A motor vehicle accident with an entrapment occurred on Hilton Avenue and Fourth Street on October 7 at 2:17 p.m.
The intersection of Poplar Street and Hempstead Turnpike was the site of another serious accident Thursday evening that left three people injured. Two cars slammed into each other at the intersection and the impact sent both careening in different directions. Two occupants of one vehicle and the driver of the second all required medical treatment and were transported to nearby hospitals by West Hempstead Fire Department and Nassau County EMS ambulances.
