Mineola

Nassau County Police Department looking for assistance with identifying and locating a man wanted for breaking into a Mineola office building.

Carle Place

A gas line was struck at Westbury Avenue and Koch Place on July 10 at about 9:33 a.m. The fire department was requested to the scene. Westbury Avenue was closed for the duration.

Westbury

A fire broke out in an attached partitioned garage of a two-story house at 65 Fourth Ave. on July 8 at 9:57 a.m. and extended to the walls. The fire was placed under control at about 10:28 a.m.

Hicksville 

A robbery  occurred in Hicksville on Saturday, July 6 at 11:02 p.m. when according to detectives, a male subject armed with a knife, entered the Econo Lodge motel located at 429 Duffy Ave., approached the clerk, demanded money and struck the victim with his fist several times on the upper body.  The victim opened the cash register, the subject then removed the black insert containing the money and fled on foot northeast toward Duffy Ave. No injuries were reported. The subject is described as a male white or light skinned male Hispanic with a thin build, 5’3”-5’5” tall, wearing a black hoodie and black mask.  No further description is available. Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous. 

Police arrested a Hicksville man for a burglary that occurred on July 8 at 2:45 p.m. in Hicksville. According to detectives, on Thursday, July 4 at 8:45 a.m., Scott Gilmore, 37, entered La Finca restaurant, located at 170 Broadway in Hicksville, through a rear door. He removed an undetermined amount of cash from the register and fled in an unknown direction. He was arrested at his home without incident. Gilmore is charged with third degree burglary and will be arraigned on Tuesday, July 9 at First District Court in Hempstead.

A car accident occurred on Woodbury Road and South Oyster Bay Road on July 11 at about 8:25 a.m. Two persons were reported aided.

Franklin Square

A robbery occurred in Franklin Square on Sunday, July 7 at 2:07 a.m. when according to detectives, a 30 year old male and 32 year old female were working at the CVS at 640 Franklin Ave when two unknown subjects entered the store. The first subject while displaying a handgun demanded property from the male victim and he surrendered a cell phone and unknown amount of U.S. currency. The second subject ordered the female victim to open the register and then reached in removing an unknown amount of U.S. currency. Both subjects then fled the scene on foot in a westerly direction. No injuries were reported. One customer was present during the robbery. Subject one is further described as possibly being Asian, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a mask covering part of his face. Subject two was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, dark sweatpants with a white stripe on the leg and a dark mask covering part of his face. Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Garden City

A 21-year-old male from New Hyde Park was arrested on Railroad Avenue for two counts of marijuana possession on July 2.

On July 3 a resident reported seeing a subject described as a male white, 18-20, unshaven, pull up in front of her residence on Chestnut Street and commit a lewd/obscene act inside his vehicle. The vehicle then left the scene towards Clinton Road.

During an investigation in Parking Field 2S on July 4, Garden City detectives arrested a female 35-year-old from Uniondale for prostitution and a male 26-year-old from Hempstead for patronizing a prostitute.

West Hempstead

Police have issued a Silver Alert for a missing West Hempstead man who was last spotted driving eastbound on the Southern State Parkway Monday.
