Crimes Nearby: Shovel Robbery, Marijuana and Snowblower Injury

Mineola

A pedestrian was reportedly struck at 250 Andrews Road on February 7 at 10:43 a.m. The person was reported to be conscious but bleeding.

An ambulance was requested at 31 Jericho Turnpike for an aided person with a hand laceration as well as an additional police unit to Sagamore and Jericho Turnpike.

Williston Park

A car crashed into a garage at Hillside Avenue and Cushing Avenue on February 9 at 1:14 p.m. A 65-year old man was transported to Winthrop Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.

East Williston

A car accident occurred at 43 Ogden Ave. on February 4 at 8:10 p.m. One person was aided with bleeding from the face. Emergency services were requested to the scene.

Garden City Park

A car accident occurred at Marcus Avenue and Betty Road on February 8 at 3:41 p.m. with a pin reported. Fire department and emergency personnel were requested to the scene.

New Hyde Park

A car accident occurred on the westbound side of the Northern State Parkway at exit 25 on February 3 at 7:42 p.m. with an entrapment reported.

Roslyn

A Freeport man was arrested for aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law) on February 6 at 9:45 p.m. in Roslyn. According to officers, 911 received a call from a 14 year old female who was a passenger in her father’s vehicle and stated that they were traveling on an unknown highway and her father was possibly drunk. Also in the vehicle at the time was her 12 year old sister, the drivers other daughter. After a notification was broadcast with a description of the vehicle in question, while traveling westbound on the Long Island Expressway, officers spotted the vehicle stopped on the shoulder near exit 39. After ensuring the safety of the children, officers interviewed the driver, Ja Mail Lewis, 37, determined that he was intoxicated and placed him under arrest. Lewis is charged with two (2) counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), driving while ability impaired combined influence, driving while ability impaired drugs, driving while intoxicated and an additional vehicle & traffic law violation. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on February 7.

Westbury

Police are searching for three Hispanic male suspects who reportedly robbed a victim of a shovel at knifepoint occurred at Rugby Road and Devon Lane at 3:50 p.m. on February 9. 

Hicksville

A fire was reported at 83 Lantern Road on February 6 at 12:04 p.m. The fire was reportedly started in the kitchen of the home. One resident was evacuated by emergency service workers from Westbury and Bethpage. Personnel from East Meadow, Jericho, Levittown and Plainview were requested to the scene.

A request from an officer for police and emergency medical personnel assistance was made at 19 Nevada St. on February 7 at 11:57 a.m.

A male resident at 7 Julian St. reportedly sustained a serious trauma injury when his hand became stuck inside a snow blower on February 9 at 1:29 p.m.

Floral Park

A fire was reported at 20 Colonial Road on February 9 at 10:57 a.m. in a dwelling. The fire was contained at 11:13 a.m.

Garden City

A patron of the Mobil Service Station on Franklin Avenue reports that he left his 2005 running as he went into the station on January 31 to buy some items when an unknown male got into his vehicle and drove away. As the vehicle was fleeing the station, it struck and damaged a gas pump. The vehicle was recovered on Laurel Avenue in Hempstead on Feb. 6. The investigation is continuing.

A Garden City detective investigation in Parking Field 2S on February 1 resulted in the arrest of a male 18-year-old from Garden City for possession of alleged Hash and alleged marijuana. 

West Hempstead

An armed robbery of a Wantagh convenience store Wednesday night led to the arrest of two men, who were later charged with committing numerous other robberies throughout Nassau County in the last few months including two in West Hempstead and two in East Rockaway.
