DeMartin Wins Manhasset-Lakeville Water/Fire District Commissioner

The incumbent edged out one of his competitors.

Incumbent defeated candidates Joe Renta, Daniel Ross and John Nash for the position of Water/Fire Commissioner for the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire District, which holds a three-year term.

Nine hundred seven votes were cast in the district with DeMartin receiving 334; his next closest competitor was John Nash with 301 votes. Daniel Ross received 168 votes and Joe Renta got 103 votes.

After being announced the winner, DeMartin noted he was "very relieved" to have won and that this was a "hard-fought election with some great candidates."

DeMartin is currently the Commissioner of Public Safety for the Town of North Hempstead, managing and overseeing six municipal departments including Code Enforcement, Division of Harbor & Marine and North Hempstead 's Animal Shelter.

DeMartin looks forward to getting to work on improvements in the district, such as replacing the Munsey Park tower and working on the distribution main that goes from Northern Boulevard to Plandome Road. The distribution main will cost $2 million, DeMartin said.
