Fire Department Responds During Hail Storm

Here is what the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department helped with during the storm.

The responded to a total of 16 weather-related incidents during the hail storm on August 1 throughout the New Hyde Park and Great Neck area, according to Ex-Captain Kirk Candan.

"These incidents ranged from stuck occupied elevators to cars trapped in flooded streets to reported house fires," Candan said.  

There was a car fire on the south service road of the Long Island Expressway between Lakeville Road and Little Neck Parkway that day; the Manhasset-Lakeville fire department put out the fire in the fully-engulfed car.

No one was hurt during this car fire, according to Captain Lee Genser.
