Hicksville Man Arrested for Garden City Park Burglaries

Nassau County Police have apprehended a man reportedly responsible for several burglaries in Garden City Park which occurred on June 7.

Steven Wohnsigl, 49, of Hicksville, allegedly broke into homes on Birchwood Drive and Morris Drive in Garden City Park as well as Betty Road in Garden City.

According to detectives, at 12:56 p.m. officers from the responded to a call for a suspicious person on Birchwood Drive and while canvassing the area an alarm began ringing at a different residence on the street.

Officers found an open rear door and window and searched the residence with no results, but located Steven Wohnsigl in the bathroom of , carrying a bag with proceeds from a burglary as well as several small bags of marijuana.

Wohnsigl is being charged with three counts of second degree burglary and parole violation for a prior burglary.  He will be arraigned on Friday, June 8 in First District Court in Hempstead.
