New Hyde Park Loses Its POP Officer

The area no longer has a designated officer for its area.

As of about a week ago, New Hyde Park no longer has its own Problem Oriented Policing person, said Trustee Richard Coppola at the board meeting Tuesday night.

New Hyde Park previously had . Coppola noted that the difference is that there is no longer someone "with a more personal touch" who will be available for incidents. He added that the same police cars will be around though.

The number of POP officers was cut down from four to one, explained Deputy Mayor Robert Lofaro.
