NHPFD Has Raft if Needed for Hurricane Irene

The department bought a raft because of Hurricane Irene.

The purchased a raft to potentially help locals during , according to Chief Brian Sherwood. There will be two people who will be dedicated to this raft -- a chief and a firefighter, he said.

In addition to the raft, there are life preservers, Sherwood said.

Firefighters will be on standby starting at about four or 5 p.m. Saturday night through Sunday or Monday, depending on the course of the storm, Sherwood said.
