Following a heavy downpour of rain that occurred Friday morning, homes in the New Hyde Park area were left in the darkness.
A total of 16 homes in New Hyde Park and 70 in Garden City Park were reported as being without power according to the LIPA storm center outage map. The site states that power is estimated to be restored at 11:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively.
There were also 58 homes in Herricks that were reported as being without power. The site estimates that power will be restored by9:30 a.m.
The LIPA website listed crews being assigned to each of the outages.
