Police: Man Drove Drunk With 6-Year-Old in Car

A North New Hyde Park man was drunk behind the wheel with a 6-year-old girl riding in the back of his car early Saturday morning, police said.

Ravinder Chopra, 50, was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint located near the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and New Hyde Park Road in New Hyde Park at 12:37 a.m., police said.

Chopra was arrested without incident after "officers immediately smelled a strong odor of alcohol and observed glassy blood shot eyes and slurred speech," police said.
