Missing New Hyde Park Man Found Dead, Nephew Charged With Murder

John Frankowski, 71, had been reported missing last week.

A 71-year-old New Hyde Park man who had been reported missing last week has been found dead and his nephew is charged with his murder, Nassau police said.

According to police, John Frankowski was reported missing last Saturday by his son who resides in Florida.

Police said an investigation determined that Frankowski's nephew, Jonathan Roman, 42, of Coram, had an argument with his uncle which escalated and ended with Frankowski's death.

On Friday afternoon, the Nassau Homicide Squad along with a Suffolk County K9 unit recovered Frankowski's body, which had been buried in a wooded area behind Roman's home.

Roman is charged with second degree murder and will be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
