Staten Island Man Arrested for Trying to Extort New Hyde Park Woman

Rudy Santana arrested for allegedly trying to ransom New Hyde Park woman's daughter.

Nassau County Police have arrested a Staten Island Man for alleged attempted grand larceny for trying to extract money from a 62-year old New Hyde Park woman.

According to detectives, a 62-year-old female New Hyde Park victim was contacted by her 35 year daughter that she was being held against her will in Staten Island and that she needed a money gram for $2,000 for her release. The 62-year-old victim previously sent $100 on March 19 and again on March 20 for the same reason.

Nassau Police were then contacted and arrested Rudy Santana, 30, at a State Island address. The daughter was located at the scene unharmed.

Santana is being charged with second degree grand larceny (attempt) and two counts of fourth degree grand larceny. He was arraigned on March 21 at First District Court, Hempstead.
