Candidate Profile: Frank Scaturro

A look at the candidate running for McCarthy's seat in the 4th Congressional District.

Name: Frank Scaturro

Hometown: New Hyde Park

Party: Conservative

Bio: Scaturro is a partner in the law firm FSB FisherBroyles. He's taught classes on constitutional law and the legislative process at Hoftra Universty's Law School and written numerous books and articles on history and law.

The Eagle Scout has dedicated his time to the village of New Hyde Park, and the community's civic and religious organizations. He's interned for former Rep. David Levy, and two federal judges - Senior District Judge Leonard Wexler and Magistrate Judge Arlene Lindsay - in the Eastern District of New York.

As a college student, Scaturro founded the non-profit Grant Monument Association, which brought about a $1.8 million face-lift for President Ulysses S. Grant's Tomb. Then, in law school he served on the board of the Journal of International Economic Law and was awarded the Fred G. Leebron Memorial Prize for the top paper in constitutional law.

For more than four years, he also served on as Counsel for the Constitution on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and was a key aide on President Bush’s nominations of Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.

Education: Scaturro is a graduate of Chaminade High School, Columbia University, where earned magna cum laude status and a degree in political science and History, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.

District: The 4th Congressional District includes Baldwin, East Meadow, East Rockaway, Elmont, the Five Towns, Lynbrook, Floral Park, Franklin Square, Garden City, Hempstead, Malverne, Mineola, Carle Place, New Hyde Park, Oceanside, Rockville Centre, Roosevelt, Uniondale, Valley Stream, West Hempstead, Bellmore, Merrick, Long Beach and Westbury.

Frank, really sorry you didn't win. Even sorrier I still see your road signs littering up the landscape. It's bad enough we have all the downed trees to look at, but those are much harder to remove.
