Casa del Dolce Café Seeking Bakery Permit

New Hyde Park business owner to install over to bake goods on premises.

A New Hyde Park entrepreneur is in the process of moving her business a little closer to home.

Alexandria Pironi, owner of , came before the New Hyde Park Village Board this past Tuesday night at the for a special use permit which would allow her to bake on the premises of 1200 Jericho Turnpike, enabling her to move her business from Franklin Square.

Pironi currently bakes her goods and breads off-premises in Franklin Square and the permit would allow her to bake on the premises at Jericho Turnpike so she can reside at one location and not have to run back and forth.

“I would like the bakery with an oven to be on the first floor at the Jericho Turnpike location and offices will be on the second floor,” said Pironi.

All perishable waste would be stored in a walk-in refrigerator until it is picked up for disposal.

Her plans also include having two bathrooms in a residential configuration.

“My plan is to put everything together,” she said.

Village trustee Lawrence Montreuil recommended that the bathrooms not include a shower, adding that he would feel more comfortable with approving the plan if the bathrooms were designed in accordance to a business setting, not for a residential one.

Pironi said she is willing not to place showers in the bathrooms.

“I just want everything in one convenient location,” she said.

The case was will go before the Nassau County Planning Commission which will render a decision within 30 days before returning it to the board for a final vote.

I certainly hope the board approves the changes, and soon! The merchants nearby really miss it, and a group of us met there every Sat. morning for breakfast. There is no other place like Casa del dolce nearby!! We need it!
