Kaiman Wins North Hempstead Supervisor Race

has been re-elected to another term as  Supervisor early Wednesday.

According to the Nassau County Board of Elections, Kaiman, D-Great Neck, received 53 percent of the vote to edge , R-Albertson, 18,941 votes to 16,719.

Kaiman has been Supervisor since 2004 and has been part of programs such as and 311.

In an acceptance speech, Kaiman noted that the Town officials took the high road when it came to the campaign and noted that issues were distorted by the other side.

Tu conceeded, but not without firing a few shots.

"We pushed the button on every issue and I really believe that we really became the voice of a lot of communities in North Hempstead," Tu said. "I’m very proud of everything we’ve done, all of the entire team of people that have helped us really fight for the issues and I know we have the right issues. We were right on everything that we talked about from the taxes to the building department to the local issues like Harbor Homes and we fought with the residents. But you know what? We’re fighting against a machine; a very, very, very big machine that’s very well financed."

Something is just not right , the numbers dont make sense , the Persian community that backed Lee only had Democrat translaters to help them fill out the ballots ,really , what a coincidence..... the numbers should never have been exactly even as they were. then theres Mineola, so so wont go there ,, Kaiman is planning to jump ship that is why he had a huge fundraiser this past Sunday ,, $7,500, $5,000 etc really Jon you need that money for an election a day and a half away ??? Yep we're idiots,,obviously ,,So the corruption will live on and the tax bills will increase ,The building Dept will now have no reason to believe they are not as Teflon as their leader,,, good job... ,, the seniors who they itimidate and shakedown, their numbers will grow and Im sure hes signing the Roslyn deal as I write this. God help us ... Oh sorry Jon , we all know how you dont like those words.

The dysfunction that is the Town of North Hempstead under the leadership of Jon Kaiman continues ... The Building Dept Backlogs and dysfunction, increase in town taxes, his promise at the Local Channel 12 debates to not to consolidate various depts through attrition, the Roslyn Country Club financial debacle to the residents that will surely be signed and incurred by us all, and on and on.
FREESPEECH November 09, 2011 at 12:28 PM
Perhaps Lee should have had own translaters-duh-if so concerned. & Obviously showing the EXACT numbers on NEWS 12 was just stupid and LEE TU LOST WAY EARLY but not reported by bd of elections and news 12 sorry :) you have ZERO understanding and shouldn't be speaking up - candidates have fundraisers for expenses for their campaigns DUH... ...lee tu obviously didnt GET OUT THE VOTE

This will be two consecutive elections that Lee Tu has lost - what lessons can we learn from that?
DanTe November 09, 2011 at 02:07 PM
To Ziggy: We learn that Long Islanders just LOVE to get shafted up the arse with folks using their tax dollars as private piggy banks. Should we all sign up to pay for membership into the Country Club paid for by taxes now? Or should we just leave the I Love Kaiman signs on the traffic signs? You know, the "Children Playing" sign covered by Kaiman? I personally can't wait to get more political phone calls from Kaiman on taxpayer funded emergency alert systems during the next hurricane.

Gaby above is absolutely right away on getting out the vote. The once effective Republican organization is still practically non existent. Despite some advances in a few areas they still fell down on the job. Kaiman has managed to develop his own. . patronage laden machine that delivered for him.Lee Tu was right on point on every single issue Kaiman did raise taxes 40%are but the majority of the people live in incorporated villages and the tax issue doesn't resonate for them.
R Miller November 09, 2011 at 02:27 PM
While I did not vote for Mr. Kainman his organization was more effective in getting the vote out. So I will say they are winners there. Nothing more can be said it is who can get their base out to vote.

Boy such sour grapes! Hey, not everyone I voted for won either but that is the way it works in a Democracy. Enjoy your victories, and get over your losses. If you feel so strongly against someone then work harder nest time to defeat them. But if they keep winning it may be time to get over it or move somewhere else!

Having lived in Port for twenty years, I have reservations about having moved here and rasied my children here. Yes, the schools are great, but my kids have grown up in a culture of corruption. We attribute the persistent exodus to high taxes. Maybe the people leaving are just sick of paying for the corruption. Good luck with the Building Department and the school district budget ;-)

Your all the same when Kaiman made his speech last night he told the crowd that he decided not to attack the people running you took the high road, now here you are calling people stupid. I guess you're just another person on the bloated payroll. There is always 2013 > DUH
Nicholas Capozzi November 10, 2011 at 02:52 AM
That the TONH machine has to go, but you couls not save Freddie and KASE
Nicholas Capozzi November 10, 2011 at 02:59 AM
You are correct in all you commented they even had low level people on the payroll write letters for him, except the person from Manorhaven did more to hurt Pollack & buds, I know I drove 12 people to the polls, after they got this letter telling them how he was going to vote and asked everyone else to do the same.

It's time for the unincorporated area of Port Washington to become a Village. At least you can deal with your neighbors when you need permits . So maybe you will pay more on your taxes but when you are a Village you will pay less to the town Much less. Get in touch with the Nassau County Villages Officials Association, if you need the number I'll be happy to give it to you.
Bob November 10, 2011 at 04:21 AM
All of Port Washington should be one city or village. It's ridiculous to have so many governmental entities in one community.
William Stark November 10, 2011 at 06:10 PM
You sound like a bitter old narcissisit. Calm down and look around at our great town. Maybe Jon Kaiman will choose to run for County Exec, and get that joke of a politician Ed Mangano out of there. Great Job Jon!
George December 27, 2012 at 02:10 AM
Kaiman must go he is an inept crony brought up by the old lady before him. Kaiman has cost the Town dearly
George December 27, 2012 at 02:11 AM
Pure idiot trust me I have sat down with him many times
