Denton Green Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Denton Green, a senior citizens residence in Garden City Park, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 20 to celebrate the facility's recent renovations.

The 112-unit senior citizens residence has provided an affordable home for Long Islanders for 42 years.  The renovation included a new roof, two elevators, and energy efficiency upgrades.

Officials say the Denton Green apartments remain affordable thanks to the Mitchell Lama program, which extends mortgage relief and other financial incentives in exchange for keeping apartment rents reasonable.  The project cost $12.7M and was championed by Assemblywoman Schimel.

“The completion of the Denton Green renovation is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when all levels of government work together in concert with the private sector,”  said North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth.

“Having a quality, affordable senior development like Denton Green enhances the lives of the seniors living there while it enriches our entire community,” she added.
