U.S. Sen. Kristen Gillibrand announced this week that she is endorsing Port Washington resident Elizabeth Kase for Nassau County Court Judge.
"I am pleased to endorse Elizabeth Kase for Nassau County Court Judge," Gillibrand said in a statement. "She has dedicated her life to making our community a better place and her experience and background make her the ideal candidate for the County Court. She has extensive knowledge of the judicial system and a strong commitment to making Nassau County a better place to live and raise a family. I urge the voters of Nassau County to vote for Elizabeth Kase on Tuesday, Nov. 8th, 2011."
Kase is Democratic and Working Families candidate for Nassau County Judge. She is running against Angelo A. Delligatti, the Republican, Independence, Conservative, and Tax Revolt candidate.
Gillibrand's press release also noted that "The Nassau County Court hears criminal felony matters. Elections are for a ten-year term with a mandatory retirement age of seventy. Currently, there are only two women out of fifteen serving the Nassau County Court."
In addition, "Kase was deemed 'well qualified' by the Nassau County Bar Association’s highest rating," according to the statement.
