Kaiman Mum Wednesday After Suozzi Announcement

Town of North Hempstead supervisor silent as Democrats rally behind Tom Suozzi for county executive run.

Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman isn't answering questions regarding the Nassau county executive race, which became a little more crowded this week.

Repeated requests were made by Patch to the supervisor's office asking for a response to the announcement Wednesday that Democrat Tom Suozzi has officially entered the race.

Kaiman, a Democratic former lawyer from Great Neck with an established campaign committee set up to explore a run for the county executive position, has remained silent.

Calls and messages left with Kaiman's staff were not returned Wednesday while across town at the Nassau County Supreme Court building, Nassau Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs signaled the Democratic Party's backing of Suozzi in his bid to reclaim the seat he lost to Ed Mangano in 2009.

Roslyn School Board member Adam Haber announced his bid for county executive in January setting up a Democratic primary in September.

"We will do everything that we can to win that primary," said Jacobs in Mineola regarding Suozzi's run.

Leaving Kaiman, it seems, to reevaluate the situation.

Oh, God save us from the idiocy of Suozzi....he's about capable of fixing the county that he ruined as my frail and terminal dog. Please....there MUST BE some viable candidate out there....someone who knows something....someone whose main purpose is more than merely vying for power. This character is responsible for driving Nassau County into the catacombs of ruination. All this guy dreams about is becoming president.... PLEASE....PLEASE....PLEASE.... can't either party come up with someone who really hopes to solve our problems...or is our system so broken and so corrupt that there no longer are "good and smart" people who are willing to get on a ticket??? God help us.

I hope the press knows how to read: http://www.leagle.com/xmlResult.aspx?xmldoc=In%20FDCO%2020080930735.xml There is really no doubt that the last TWO adininstrations have been running a criminal enterprise and the DA has been giving them a pass. DO SOMETHING!

what does patch expect Kaiman to say ? I did such a good job in North Hempstead , I deserve this job? Hopefully Kaiman's high velocity mouth will stay "MUM" and he will leave us alone .

I agree with George. Kaiman should keep his mouth shut. There is nothing he could say. If he does run, thankfully Nassau County doesn't have a Building Department for him to screw up. Then again there are more county agencies that he can destroy.
