Martins Hosts and Contributes to Blood Drive

The drive was held at the Herricks Community Center.

Twenty pints of blood were collected during the Blood Drive at the on Wednesday afternoon.

It was Peter Faherty's first time donating blood. Of the experience he said, "It's scary, but I'm glad I did it."

Helena O'Donnell regularly donates because she has O positive blood. She has been donating since high school because as someone in the medical professional, she sees how many people need the blood.

Of Martins organizing and participating in the blood drive, O'Donnell said, "It's nice that he was doing this."

Martins said in a statement that he was appreciative of those who took part in the drive.

“I want to thank the staff of New York Blood Center as well as Herricks for allowing me to hold the drive. I also want to especially thank all those who came out to donate. I know it takes time to come, but it does so much good. I appreciate it.”
