New Hyde Park 2014 Road Improvement Project Planned

About half of village roads have been recently repaved.

On October 8 the New Hyde Park Village Board met with engineers from their engineering firm of Dvirka & Bartilucci regarding the 2014 road improvement project. The village discussed between 1.5 miles and 2 miles of repaving.

“We’re waiting for them to come back with a proposal, scope of services document, how much it will cost to do engineering work for the roads that have been indicated,” mayor Robert Lofaro said during a public hearing on October 15 at the village hall. “We’re looking at this pretty aggressively.”

Lofaro said that the village hopes to bid during the winter months so the New Hyde Park project would be the contractors’s first project in the spring of 2014.

Lofaro also said the village would issue a projection on how long it would take to repave all the remaining roads in the village since about half of the roads have been repaved.
