New Hyde Park Republicans Salute Locals

Both State Senator Jack Martins and New Hyde Park Fire Commissioner Richard Stein were honored Wednesday evening.

Commissioner Richard Stein and Seventh District State Senator were honored at the Greater New Hyde Park Republican Club's event on Wednesday evening at Jonathan's.

While introducing Martins, Legislator Nicolello joked that the State Senator is "affectionately known as Landslide" by his peers. Martins also reflected on his close victory over then ; Martins noted he won the election by 451 votes. In his eyes though, Martins really won the election by 276 votes, as had more votes gone the other way, he wouldn't have become State Senator. Martins thanked his supporters in the New Hyde Park and Garden City Park area, adding that without their support, he wouldn't have been elected.

Martins also discussed some of the things that are going on up in Albany. He noted that it is important not to make cuts across the board in budgets and leave the people who desperately need services without them.
