New Hyde Park Village Board Close to Unveiling 2012-13 Budget

Mayor Daniel Petruccio and village board making final adjustments before April 2 budget hearng.

The New Hyde Park Village Board is reportedly a few weeks away from completing .

“We’re closing in on the conclusion of the process," Mayor Daniel Petruccio said during Tuesday night’s village board meeting at the village hall. The budget is scheduled to be ready by next week so residents can view it at before it is finalized at the budget hearing on April 2.

“We’re putting the last touches on it and we’re looking for the last areas where we can make some adjustments. I can just say that we worked very hard,” Petruccio said. “I think when we start, usually we start with a much higher number and it’s a lot more cutting. This year we came in with a much more realistic number that was closer to a good starting point.”

“It made the work we did so much easier, but in a sense, there were less options open to us in terms of how else to shave. We’re still working on it and as soon as we have something to present we will.”
