New Hyde Park Village Board Looks to Regain $100,000 Grant
Village board working to regain lost funding to pay for renovations to William Gill Theater.
The Village of New Hyde Park believes that it has a good chance of seeing $100,000 worth of grant moneys restored to them in the near future, funds which were originally supposed to help fund the on the second floor of the village hall.
In January 2011, members of the learned they had which was dedicated to help pay for the renovations to the second-floor theater space. Over $250,000 worth of renovations and improvements had been completed, the cost of which would be offset by the grant.
The money had been promised to the village by then-, D-Port Washington, who to current , R-Mineola. The former Democratic majority pulled the grant back in December of 2010, with the village being notified of the change by the state the following month.

The village board had reached out to Martins as well as , R-East Meadow, and Ed Ra to help regain the grant. With their help, the village has reportedly and the grant is now a possibility once again.
“We have not received it yet, but it does seem that we have a road that might eventually lead us to receiving that money,” New Hyde Park Trustee Donald Barbieri said during Tuesday’s meeting of the village board. “It could benefit us greatly down the line.”

It will take several months before the village learns if it has officially received the grant.
