  • Trustee Donald Barbieri asked for residents or neighbors of the community to help expand the village cultural committee. “We’re working on doing more in the new theater upstairs and more,” he said. “Please come on out and give me a call here at and we’ll get some new things together for the community.”
  • Trustee Lawrence Montreuil noted that there are three possible new businesses coming to the area: a fitness center on Second Avenue, an automobile storage facility on Fourth Avenue and a beauty salon on Jericho Turnpike.
  • Mayor Daniel Petruccio spoke as an individual, not on behalf of the board, on the consolidation of Nassau County Police Precincts. He said, “I do feel very deeply that what the county is facing, the financial crisis they’re in, I think we’re looking for innovative and different ways to approach this. My number one concern is that our residents continue to have the same police presence in the street that they presently do. If that can be accomplished and you can cut the cost in other areas, I’m all for a plan that does that…I think we have to at least entertain the possibility that this may not be a bad idea.”
