New Hyde Park Village Board Notebook: March 6

Other news from the March 6 village board meeting.

The New Hyde Park Village Board of Trustees held a meeting on Tuesday, March 6. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Community Development

  • Trustee Donald Barbieri and Mayor Daniel Petruccio attended a because of new routs from airplanes using the metropolitan airports. They encouraged residents to reach out to their state representatives to voice their opinion on the new routes.
  • The state project for the repaving of Jericho Turnpike will go out to bid by Thursday, March 8. The roadwork will be on Jericho between the Queen/Nassau border and Mineola. The schedule is not yet set but Trustee Barbieri is hopeful the project will start in New Hyde Park in the late spring or early summer. 
  • Some residents voiced concern that the project might ruin some of the by the time the State Project begins work in New Hyde Park. The residents requested the village fix effected roads after the state project is completed. 
  • The village is waiting for FEMA to reimburse them for Hurricane Irene recovery. The village utilized money from a fund that is used to purchase trees. 

License Renewals

  • The following companies have had their landscaper license renewed: Victor Escobar Landscaping (Hempstead),  (New Hyde Park), P.G. Landscaping (Mineola), Martinez Landscaping (Jamaica), McNulty Outdoors (New Hyde Park), Mario & Aleidy Landscaping (Queens Village), G & C Landscaping (Westbury), Brother Landscaping (Hempstead).
  • U Need a Roll Off Corp/Unique Sanitation (West Babylon) also has its Carter License Renewed.
  •  and The Angry Gnome asked for a restaurant license and games/amusement devices.
  • Mr. Softee sought a catering licensing renewal.

Department of Public Works

  • New dump truck was delivered on March 5. It will also be used to pick up leaves, plow snow and drop sand. It will be used during all seasons.

The next meeting of the New Hyde Park Village Board will be on Tuesday, March 21 at 8 p.m. at the .
