New Tanks to Be Placed at Garden City Park Shell Station

Town of North Hempstead board approved of new underground tanks being installed.

New storage tanks will be put in at the Shell Gas station at 88 Nassau Boulevard in Garden City Park after the board approved of the measure at their regular meeting last Tuesday night.

Keith O’Brien of Murphy, Bartol and O’Brien, who represented the applicant before the board, explained that the new tanks were being put in because the regulations have changed and now require doube-wall fiberglass.

The site previously had three 10,000 gallon tanks and it will now have two tanks. Town of North Hempstead Planning Commissioner Michael Levine said during the meeting that "by reducing the number of tanks, this also reduces the potential number of leaks."
