Nassau Legis. Richard Nicolello, R–New Hyde Park, recently hosted a workshop at the Hillside Public Library which featured a presentation by Helen McQueen from the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission to directly answer residents’ questions and walk them through the property assessment grievance application process.
More than 100 people attended the workshop.
“Nassau residents pay the highest realproperty taxes in the nation,” Nicolello said in a statement. “It is important for homeowners to know all of their options whendeciding whether to challenge their assessment. The workshop provided a successful model ofmaking government more accessible to the people.”
The time to apply for the property assessment grievance and dispute the assessed value of yourproperty ends on May 1, 2013.
