Nicolello Secures $17,000 for Village Museum

Funds to help show history of New Hyde Park.

Working with New Hyde Park Village Historian Carol Nowakowski, Museum Project Committee member Mildred Tassone and New Hyde Park Village Trustee Donald Barbieri, Nassau County , R-New Hyde Park, has secured $17,000 in Nassau County grants for the creation of the .

This museum, which is located in the basement of the , will contain a collection of historical photos and other items which will help .

In addition, the museum will also contain audio recordings, providing an oral history of the village. Among the interviews are a series of recordings taken from the ’s Class of 1961 reunion.

The museum has also created a Facebook page in an effort to obtain other recordings and Village memorabilia. All future updates and information concerning the Museum will be provided through this Facebook page.

The Village of New Hyde Park hopes to eventually create a website which will expand the project and allow non-residents access to this information.

The projects were brought to Nicolello’s attention by Barbieri, who worked cooperatively to complete the county’s approval process.
