North Hempstead Approves Denton Green Apartments’ Expansion

The expansion will make the building easier for emergency personnel to access.

The approved plans on Tuesday night at its board meeting for the Denton Green Apartments to add 1,152 square feet and become more compliant with American with Disabilities Act guidelines.

The addition to the senior, low-income housing will include a new elevator, which will be the second elevator in the apartment complex, and a lobby. There will also be another curb cut made on Denton Avenue to help emergency personnel better access Denton Green Apartments’ residents.

Brian Cunningham, a lawyer with Cunningham & Cunningham who was representing the applicant, explained that the building’s current design does not include an elevator that can fit a gurney.
