North Hempstead Clerk Earns Master Accreditation

Town Clerk Leslie Gross receives master municipal clerk status at Cornell University.

After six summers of masters-level coursework, Town Clerk Leslie C. Gross earned accreditation as a master municipal clerk.

The International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) awarded Gross’ certification after more than 120 hours of coursework at Cornell University in Ithaca.

IIMC aims to promote "continuing education and certification through university and college-based institutes and provides networking solutions, services and benefits to its members worldwide," according to the organization's website.

With the certification completed, Gross plans to introduce new intiatives in her office, including paying tribute to veterans in North Hempstead, she said.

Gross completed an IIMC approved 120-hour Municipal Clerk Academy program from 2007 through 2009, and then earned her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) accreditation in September of 2010.  Another 120 hours of advanced coursework, experience, and social/professional contributions were completed to satisfy the requirements to earn the degree of Master Municipal Clerk.

Gross became North Hempstead Town Clerk in April, 2007. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of the Town of North Hempstead’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation.
