North Hempstead Tax Levy Projected To Be Under Two Percent Cap

The tax levy increase will be just under two percent in this tentative budget.

The proposed 2012 budget will include a 1.99 percent increase in tax levy, according to spokesman Collin Nash.

This tentative budget includes a $107.2 million, or 4.42 percent, increase in spending. There could also be an increase in general fund spending from $58.2 million to $60.9 million, which is a 4.74 percent increase.

The budget for areas outside of villages could go from $37.2 million to $38.6 million, which is a 3.74 percent increase.

The Town board will vote Oct. 18 to set a public hearing date for the proposed budget, Nash said.
